Biography:
Norman Yi Li is a writer/director based in Vancouver, Canada. An alumnus of the Pacific Screenwriting Program, he wrote for an original series created by Will Pascoe, which was later optioned by Skydance Media. Norman was an awardee at the TIFF - Sloan Science and Technology Project Pitch and a semi-finalist at the Austin Film Festival Script Competitions. During the WBD x BTR Mid-Level Writers’ Room, Norman developed a sci-fi thriller series as the head writer. He was subsequently selected as a writer-in-residence for the Warner Bros. Discovery Access x Canadian Academy Writers’ Program. In 2024, Norman won the ScreenBC Short Film Award at the Whistler Film Festival. On set, he has worked as a writers’ assistant for the Netflix series The Night Agent and as a story intern for the CTV/CW series Sight Unseen. With a background in cognitive sciences, Norman tells stories about morally ambiguous characters grappling with ethical dilemmas and shifting identity.
